Countdown Event Marks Three Months to Opening

The Nordic Pavilion hosted a special reception in Tokyo to celebrate the countdown to the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, with just three months remaining before the grand opening. During the event, themes and highlights of each country’s National Day were announced, along with details about the collaborative “Joint Nordic Event” and the concept for the rooftop restaurant.

National Days: A Celebration of Nordic Unity and Diversity

The Expo has allocated one day to each participating country to showcase their culture, ideas, and traditions. The Nordic Pavilion has five respective National Days. The National Days of each Nordic country will highlight their distinct cultural identities and shared visions for the future. Representatives from each country unveiled their themes and plans for their respective days:

Denmark (April 24): Stine L.Guldmann, Commissioner General of Denmark, announced the theme “Danish Day,” featuring seminars and workshops showcasing Denmark’s innovative businesses and their forward-thinking approaches.

Sweden (May 14): Cecilia Ekholm, Commissioner General of Sweden, presented the theme “Join Sweden to Pioneer the Possible,” focusing on Sweden’s commitment to sustainability and a greener future.

Iceland (May 29): Ragnar Þorvarðarson, Commissioner General of Iceland, revealed the theme “Inspirations From the World's Most Peaceful and Equal Country,” with activities promoting peace, equality, and sustainable development.

Norway (June 2): Finn Kristian Aamodt, Commissioner General of Norway, highlighted “Renewable Energy and Ocean-Friendly Business,” exploring the intersection of marine resources and technology.

Finland (June 12): Lotta Hanski, Head of Communication of Finland, unveiled the theme “Happiness,” celebrating Finland’s seven-year streak as the world’s happiest country and sharing insights into their unique approach to well-being.

Joint Nordic Event: A Collaborative Showcase of Innovation

The Nordic Pavilion’s joint event, “Joint Nordic Event,” will spotlight cutting-edge developments in startups, life sciences, and energy, with additional focus areas to be announced. This collaborative effort will exemplify the spirit of unity among the five Nordic nations and their shared dedication to sustainability and innovation.

Rooftop Restaurant: The Nordic Way

Sofie Källström, the head of restaurant planning, introduced the rooftop restaurant’s concept, “The Nordic Way.” Guests will experience the diverse culinary traditions of the Nordic region. The restaurant will prioritize sustainability, aiming for zero food waste while offering an unforgettable dining experience that brings together the best of Nordic cuisine.
