"Denmark Day" Event report

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Kingdom of Denmark proudly hosted its National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, becoming the first of the five Nordic countries participating to celebrate its national day. In the esteemed presence of His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark, the day showcased Denmark’s culture, innovation, and vision for a sustainable future.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us at the venue or watched online!
A Pavilion with full of Danish Design
For this special occasion, the Nordic Pavilion was beautifully decolated with the essence of Danish design, featuring works by renowned brands such as Carl Hansen & Søn, HAY, and BoConcept, along with stunning floral creations by Danish-Japanese florist Nicolai Bergmann.
Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony was held at the National Day Hall “Ray Garden.” His Majesty King Frederik X addressed the audience, saying:
“Today marks the culmination of close collaboration and tireless efforts between the Nordic nations—Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark—resulting in the creation of this wonderful Nordic Pavilion here in Osaka.
The long-standing partnership between the Kingdom of Denmark and Japan is founded on mutual respect and shared values. Diplomatic ties between our nations date back 158 years. Today, Denmark and Japan share a deep commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality of life.
I hope that all who visit the Nordic Pavilion will be inspired and gain a deeper understanding of how Denmark and the Nordic countries are striving to create a better future for the next generation. Enjoy today and discover the beauty of Denmark.”
Representing the Government of Japan, Mr. Koji Haneda, Commissioner General of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, expressed his appreciation:
“At the heart of the excellent relationship between Japan and the Kingdom of Denmark are the longstanding exchanges between our Imperial and Royal families. As maritime nations, both Japan and Denmark bring unique strengths in digital and green innovation. I am confident that our friendship and cooperation will continue to flourish.
We sincerely thank Denmark for its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, and we wish His Majesty a most fruitful and memorable visit.”
The ceremony concluded with captivating musical performances.

His Majesty also visited the Grand Roof Ring, the Japan Pavilion, and other highlights of the Expo, showing great interest in Japanese culture and technology.
Evening Concert – Music That Connects Nations
The evening “Denmark Day Special Concert” began with a message from Mr. Morten Bødskov, Denmark’s Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs:
“Music connects hearts, and culture resonates beyond words. Through this moment, we are reminded that Japan and Denmark are partners in shaping the future.”
