On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, with the opening of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai just around the corner, the Nordic Pavilion hosted a press tour. The event was held during the Expo’s Media Day, unveiling the menu of the rooftop restaurant “The Nordic Food Bar” as well as the official uniforms designed by renowned brands: Finland’s Marimekko and VIBAe, and Sweden-born H&M. Additionally, a special space showcasing the beauty and values of Nordic living—created with the collaboration of three iconic Danish design brands, BoConcept, Carl Hansen & Søn, and HAY—was revealed. The press also got a sneak peek at the “Nordic Shop,” offering goods featuring beloved Nordic characters like the Moomins and Pippi Longstocking, alongside various Nordic brands.

The official uniforms were also revealed for the first time. Staff, who serve as the face of the pavilion, will warmly welcome guests with a distinctively Nordic touch through uniforms designed by Finland's Marimekko and VIBAe, and Sweden’s H&M.

In a heartwarming ceremony symbolizing the cultural exchange between Japan and the Nordic countries, Fukumusume (lucky maidens) from Imamiya Ebisu Shrine—Kotono Kawabe, Haruka Ashida, and Annette Yamamoto Hansen—performed the traditional Osaka-style closing hand clap (“Osaka-jime”). This marked the first time Fukumusume appeared at an overseas pavilion event.

Following the Front Plaza presentation, the "Nordic Shop," packed with Nordic charm, was officially opened to the press. The shop offers a wide range of items: from merchandise featuring iconic Nordic characters like the Moomins and Pippi Longstocking, to fashion brands’ bags, wearables, accessories, the latest Nordic gadgets, perfumes, and even food and alcoholic beverages that capture the flavors of the North. Products from LEGO, a partner of the pavilion, are also available. Visitors are warmly encouraged to stop by the shop when visiting the pavilion.

In the Exhibition Hall, a massive 360-degree screen made of rice paper—crafted from rice that could no longer be eaten—welcomes visitors. This immersive exhibit showcases daily life and seasonal landscapes from the Nordics through photographs and videos. The recreated summer temperature and scents allow guests to fully experience the Nordic atmosphere with all five senses.

Finally, the third-floor rooftop terrace restaurant, "The Nordic Food Bar," was revealed. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience that combines everyday Nordic flavors with Japanese elements. It embraces a vision of “zero food waste,” creating a sustainable dining environment.

During the press tour, tasting plates from both the main dining menu and café menu were served. The dining menu featured “Skagen,” a traditional Nordic open-faced sandwich, while the café menu included Swedish semla buns—famous springtime sweets—and Norwegian-style waffles served with brown cheese. After the Expo opens, the menu will also include kid-friendly dishes like hot dogs and meatballs. A selection of alcoholic beverages, including Norwegian and Danish beers, will also be available. Guests are invited to spend warm, memorable moments with family and friends, enjoying the spirit of "Nordic time."
